With eight kids in only ten years, there was bound to be tension between Rhett and Cecily. Undoubtedly, the two loved all of their children very much, but eight young mouths to feed can put a strain on any relationship. Rhett, for one, never expected to be a father of eight before the age of thirty; to help deal with the stress, he threw himself into his band and his music. Luckily, Cecily is a freelance photographer and can work from home, but more often than not she feels like a single mother, with Rhett gone so often on tour.
Everything came to a head one night, a few weeks after their youngest, Isabelle, was born. Cecily accused Rhett of neglecting his family and threatened to throw him out of the house; Rhett countered that his music career was what kept food on the table. The argument grew so heated neighbors called the police because of the noise of the shouting. The children were sent to live with family members while Rhett and Cecily went to counseling to work out their marital problems. They both agreed wholeheartedly that having more kids was totally out of the picture. Rhett promised to be around more for his family instead of wrapped up in his band, and he apologized to Cecily for his behavior. Now the couple are still trying to iron out the wrinkles in their relationship, but they're both still very committed to their children and to each other.
