Jean isn't much better, unless you would actually use the French pron, then it would be no probs for me. If I was forced to choose between Gene or Jean, I'd say Jean. As a MN it would be lot better, not to mention the teasing potential Jean as a FN has for a boy. I'd pair it with a very masculine name, not like Elijah. Patrick and Victor (I don't like ViKtor) would be masculine enough imo.
