In the past two years, we have added three new members to our family: Dylan, Isaac (now 2) and Lydia (new born). And yes, Isaac and Dylan are our second pair of fraternal twins. It runs in the family (I was a twin). But we were still very surprised when I was told that I was expecting twins again.
Luckily, Dylan and Isaac were both very healthy babies, they arrived only three weeks before their due date. We received (and still receive) lots of looks from strangers because of our double twins, as we like to call them.
Two months ago, I gave birth to my fifth child (a little crazy, I know, but hey, I love kids!). Lydia Catherine, named after my grandmother, was born and seemed at first to be perfectly healthy. But then the nurses realized that Lydia wasn't reacting to sounds. Lydia is deaf as well. Naturally, we weren't thrilled about that, but Lydia is an amazingly happy baby, anyway.
We speak both English and sign language at home; to all our children. We moved to a town that's school teaches "normal-hearing" children, but has a special program for deaf children, so it is a great possibility for us.
