[Opinions] Liam
Lately, I've taken a liking to this name. It started when my friend and I were discussing Liam Neeson, really. I know that when I first came on the boards this name was mentioned quite a bit, and most people didn't seem to like it at the time...What do you think of Liam? Negative and positive connotations? Any MN suggestions?

I love the name Liam, it's a fave of mine actually and has been for years. It's kind of popular here in Australia, but I still love it. I like the sound and look of it and I think it suits a man just as nicely as it suits a boy. I like the following combos:Liam Jacob
Liam Jasper
Liam River
Liam Oscar
Liam Oliver
Liam Isaac
Liam Tobias
Liam Raphael
Liam Rupert
Liam Elijah
Liam Ezekiel
Liam Asher
Liam Aaron
Liam Sebastian
Liam Daniel
Liam Dylan
Liam David

Liam George
Liam Gideon
Liam Henry / Liam Harry

Liam Joseph
Liam Charlie

I think Liam is okay. It's definitely becoming rather popular where I live. I much prefer it as a nickname for William though than just by itself.

I think it's completely silly-sounding. Leeum. Lee-yum. Hallo, Ime Lee-yum. I can't take it seriously. It's a very contrived nickname and it's absolutely ridiculous on its own. Not to mention it's very trendy.

I don't like it, but I don't hate it either. I think it's the way it looks. For some reason I always see lama or lamb when I look at it. I think it's okay for someone else, just not me.

I like it as a NN, but it feels very trendy right now.

I used to love it but now I only think it's OK. Sure, I could use it, but there are much better names, I think.
It could work as a nickname for William.

Liam is fairly popular where I am, I don't really like it, but it works. It's short and unpretentious, boyish, but has a bit of an annoying sound to it IMO. Liam Neeson, Liam Aiken and a film called Liam http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0255321/ come to mind. That said, William Arthur "Liam" would be lovely. Or if you want Liam on it's own:Liam Felix
Liam Walter
Liam Gabriel
Liam Thomas
Liam Joseph
Liam Henry
Liam Theodore
Liam Scott
Liam Gregory
Liam Daniel
Liam Nathaniel

I think Liam as a nn for William is a nice alternative to overly used Will, which I like, but it needs a rest. I love William Arthur, it would be very cool to see you use it :)

My son is named William, nn Will. At times I have wished that I chose to call him Liam instead of Will, but I just didn't think of it at the time. My sister was planning on naming a boy Liam, by itself, not as a nickname, but as it turned out she never had a boy. I don't really like it as a full given name, only as a nickname.
