Griffin's not a bad name. As for Ricochet; maybe you could name him Richard and just use Ricochet as a term of endearment. If he's willing and cool enough to pull it off, his buddies could call him that as well. I think it's just a courtesy to not give a child TOO bizarre a proper name.
