Could you please tell me how to pronounce the Portuguese name João? Is it pronounced as 'WA-jo' or as 'DJA-o?'

ão isn't pronounced like in Spanish. It's a nasal sound and it sounds like "ow". The "j" is pr. "zh", so zho-OW.
