Help[Opinions] Judith and Cecilia
I've recently discovered that I really love the combo Cecilia Rose. While it is a bit more pedestrian and boring, it just has a great flow. Here's my problem. I can't see using Cecilia as a full name period. One of the things that I strongly dislike is when a NN becomes so entrenched that the full name is never used. I much prefer what is done with my nephew, Isaac. He's called by his NN Ikey half the time, by Isaac the other half. His sister, however, has the worst time. She was supposed to go by her middle name Miranda, but instead goes by Mira and has never been called by anything else. I'd prefer to not have that happen. However, I can't think of a single NN for Cecilia that wouldn't become permanent. Wdyt?

Judith Cecilia doesn't flow off my tongue very well. Maybe it's just me. Miriam Judith and Cecilia Rose just flow better, imo. WDYT of Ceci or Cece while everyone else called her Cecilia? Then again, longer names are more likely to be shortened so she'd probably have a nick of some sort.

I think Judith Cecilia is more practical, and that Miriam Judith and Cecilia Rose are better for "collecting" (I guess that's what we do on these boards with combos). I agree with you that Cecilia is nice as a first name in theory, and that Cecilia Rose is very pretty, but in real life Cecilia is difficult to deal with and Rose - no matter what, mostly - is a dull middle name. Judith can be Judith instead of Judy, though, and since Judith Cecilia honors twice, and they're both great names, the question of whether it's a great combo namewise or not is less important on an actual child.

Like one of my favorite combos ever is Julius Godwin Menelaus, but I wouldn't use that because it doesn't honor anyone, so it remains happily in my stack of fantasy combos instead of my realistic ones.

What about Celie or Lia? I could see those being "sometimes" nicknames. However, it's certainly possible that your daughter will hate Cecilia and chose to go by Lia, Celia, Cecily, or even her middle name.
I prefer Miriam Judith and Cecilia Rose to Judith Cecilia, which is a bit of overkill. I don't think Judith needs a nickname, and I hate Judy and Jude.

I know two Cecilia's and I've never heard them called anything but Cecilia. Although it's a long name, it seems to be an exception to the whole long-names-need-nicknames thing. I don't think you have to worry much about it. Cici, for instance, could be a cute occasional nickname but it doesn't necessarily have to stick.
Judith is kind of different though. With Judith comes the expected nickname Judy, whereas Cecilia doesn't have an obvious nickname. I think a Judith would be called Judy more often than a Cecilia called Cici or Celia or something, you know?
Anyway, while I dislike Cecilia, I think Judith Cecilia is beautiful. I prefer it to Miriam Judith and Cecilia Rose, although those are both nice as well. :)

Judith is very nice, but the nn Judy could become used in place of Judith.

If she chose to go by it later in life, than that's her deal. But I would refer to her as Judith, as would her father, etc. So, I'm not worried about it.
