StephenI just really don't like the look of Steven, I can't explain why. Perhaps because it lends itself more to the nn Steve, which I can't stand. Plus, one of my best friends spells his name Stephen, so I'm more used to it. I think it's a great name, spelled that way.

Stephen looks more correct to me.Steven looks like a Hooked On Phonics spelling even though I realize it has been an accepted form for hundreds of years. BTW, I really like Stephen/Steven and have a nephew named Steven James.

Steven. It just looks 'right' to me.:)

I hate the spelling Steven. I think it looks illiterate and like Steve + n. But I have issues with the name Steve (personal reasons) so that might be a big part of it. :b Stephen just looks so much nicer to me. And also correct. But then again, I've known a couple of Stephens who prn. their name STEF-en. Oy.

Neither. Sorry but regardless of spelling, Steven is a name of my generation (I'm 32). It doesn't suite my modern (or old-enough-to- be-new-again) tastes.

I prefer Stephen (pro. like STEE-ven or STEE-fen) over Steven. It just looks nicer. Steven is fine, but seems a bit incomplete and just not 'right', and reminds me of the number seven plus a 't'. I'm not big on the name Stefan though or the STEF-an pronounciation of Stephen\Stephan.(my rankings)
1. Stephen
2. Stephan
3. Steven
4. Stefan

StephenBut I prefer Stefan as well. Stephen is has a upper-class feel to it, while Steven has more of a working-class feel to it and looks like a word, not a name.

Steven!Stephen looks like it's pronounced STEE-fen (in fact I can't say it any other way in my mind and have to force myself to change it when I say it out loud). Plus, Steven is the name of my brother *and* the name of the guy I'm going on a date with on Sunday, so it's far more familiar to me.

Stephen, it looks nicer, and I pronounce it the same as Steven. My favorite of the type though is Stephan, which I prn Steff-in.

StephenI prefer the Stephen spelling, but I pronounce them both the same with a V sound. I know some people differentiate the sound as well as the spelling, though. The ph looks more complete to me, and I have a good friend named Stephen, so it sort of stuck.
