It's one of my favorites. I kind of prefer it as a middle name - my favorite combos are Clara Valentine and Joan Valentine.

Valentine is a girl name only in my culture.

It is ok for a girl with the French pronunciation, otherwise it's too masculine for me.

If you're pronouncing it va-law(n)-TEEN, I think it's pretty, but prefer Valentina. If you're pronouncing it like the day with glittery construction papter hearts and crappy candy (ie, if you're pronouncing it VAL-en-tien), no. It's a boy's name.As Mel said, it's pretty cheesey if you give it to her because she was born on said day with construction paper hearts. Can you imagine growing up named Valentine with your birthday on Valentine's Day? Yikes. (Same reason I can't stand Noel/Noelles born on Christmas. A subtle nod is okay though I don't care for it, but I find that tacky.)

I love it but it's SOOO CHEESY IF SHE'S BORN ON VALENTINE'S DAY! Sorry for the caps but it was necessary haha....also, I think it sounds better as a first name. In the mn spot, I feel it sends of an unwanted, overly "cutesy" vibe (like Bella or Love).Valentina is lovely as well.

Also, do you pronounce it VAL-en-tien or val-en-TEEN? I can't decide which one I prefer...

I actually think Valentine is cute. I like it more for a middle name personally; something like Rosalind Valentine, Sofia Valentine, Maybelle Valentine, etc. etc. It's cute, not too out there, and just sweet. It'd be cute if you had a baby girl on Valentine's day and named her Valentine!!!
