Help[Opinions] WDYT of Aleydis?
WDYT of Aleydis--prn. a-LAY-dis, it's Dutch at babynames.com and as a submitted name here. I first heard it when I was reading Girl With a Pearl Earring. I think it's beautiful. How would you prn it if you first saw it?

I would prn is a-Lay-dis as well. I really don't like it at all.

I would pronounce it as you've typed it--'a-LAY-dis'. I like it due to the fact that Emmy Rossum plays a character named by a similar name, Deladis, in Songcatcher (one of my favourite movies). Though I'd be more inclined to use Deladis, I do like Aleydis.

For a moment I was thinking "uh-lie-dis" which is nice too, but either way it sounds pretty.

I would say uh-Lay-dis, which is pretty much how you typed it out. I don't particularly like it. The sound is just not my style. It sounds contrived to my ear.
