If you're pronouncing it VAL-en-tien, like pink construction paper doused in gitter and cheap chocolates, no. It's a boy's name, and I like it on a boy. (If you meant the French feminine pronounciation, it's nice but not my favourite.) How about Valentina? I think that one's lovely.

This is one that I think I prefer on a boy, probably because I first think of St. Valentine and Michael Valentine Smith from "Stranger in a Strange Land" when I hear it.

I know a girl name Valentina - I think it is a stiking and lovely name. Therefore, I am fond of this version as well :)

Love it! I have a combo using the name as a mn that I absolutely adore: Audrey Valentine. I think it has great nn potential as a fn too
