[Opinions] Re: Lucifer...

thanks for all the responses; I think I can live without using Demon. Damien does look nicer I think than Damian, thanks for suggesting it.
Lucifer - I love this; the sound is just beautiful and it doesn't look bad written either its a beautiful name. Having looked it up on wikipedia... the name doesn't bother me at all as I'm not a Christian, but I wouldn't want to offend anybody.

I thank that Damon and Damien are fine. I understand that Lucifer is not a bad name if you subtract the "devil" connotations, and although it doesn't bother you because you aren't a Christian, I would be wary of it b/c probably most people you will run into (whether Christian or not) will hear Lucifer and think "devil." Let's put it this way. Would you name your child Satan? If not, then you might not want to name him Lucifer, as the words are often used interchangeably when talking about the devil.
While Lucifer may be fine as a name, your child would never be able to escape the fact that most people associate his name with "the fallen angel" (Satan). While those close to him would get used to it and it wouldn't bother them anymore, it might make it a tough life for him overall, and yes, it would probably offend some people, just as some people are offended when they see someone named Pagan or Jesus or any other name/word with strong religious connotations. Just something to chew on!
