[Opinions] How do YOU pronounce...
Anneliese? I always thought it was ah-ne-LEES or ann-ah-LEES but the database shows it to be ah-ne-LEE-zu.Which pronounciation do you prefer? If I were to use it and use the ann-ah-LEES pronounciation, would it get mispronounced alot?TIA

since I'm german I pronounce it ahn-ne-lee-zu ... and it's a real grandmother's name to me, really old fashioned. But I dunno, if you want the pronunciation ann-ah-LEES, you can simply spell it Annalies. "Lies" is a variant of "Liese".Annelies does exist as well and it's pronounced ahn-ne-lees and I wouldn't be surprised if some girls are called Annaliese or Annalies, eventhough I don't know any.But all of them sound really old to me ;)

ah-na-LEES, but I don't like itI prefer the fully Anglicized Annalisa, if you must smush Anna and Elizabeth like that.

ann-eh-LEES. I love it said that way. I don't think it would get mispronounced in the USA. ah-neh-LEE-zu is the German pronunciation.

I like it pronounced ANNA-LISA or ANNA-LEES. I prefer ANNA-LEES a bit more and when I first saw the name that's how I thought it was always pronounced. I don't think it would get mispronounced a lot.

I pronounce it ah-ne-LEE-suh, as it says in the database, not ah-na-LEES. I think you'd have luck with your pronounciation, though, because a girl who pronounces it ah-ne-LEE-suh is more likely to have it mispronounced.

When I see it, it's like Anna Liza in my head, but if I were to say it out loud I'd say ANN-uh-lees.

I would pronounce it ah-ne-LEES or ah-ne-LEEZE.

The way we pronounce it in Danish it's an-ne-LEE-seh.

An-ah-lees

Anneliese -- I say ah-na-LEE-za. With Annelise, I say ah-na-LEEZ. I think in the US, you'd most likely hear an-a-LEES with either spelling.I like the name though it's not something I'd use.

I'm rather fond of the German pronunciation. I don't really like how it is pronounced in English.

I say ah-ne-LEES. But I believe as it is a German name that it is pronounced ah-ne-LEE-zu. Germans always pronounce they're "e"s.

If you want the "ann ah LEES" pronunciation I would spell it Annelies.

If you used your pronunciation, I don't believe it would be mispronounced by the majority of the population. The 'ah-ne-LEE-zu' pronunciation is German. To get your pronunciation ('ann-ah-LEES') in German, you'd have to use Annelies (however, the 'A' would still be pronounced 'ah').Anyways, I use the German pronunciation, but I like the other pronunciations just the same.

The database prn. is the german version.I'd say Ann-uh-lees.

Your pronunciation is also correct. I have heard it pronounced:Ann-leez
Ann-uh-leez
Ann-lee-ez
Awn-uh-leez
Awn-leez
Awn-lee-ez
Ann-lees
Ann-uh-lees (how I pronounce it typically)

I pronounce it like Anna-Lisa, but there is a veritable swarm of little girls in my area with various spellings on the name, and they're all inevitably anna-LEES or ahna-LEES. Either way, I dislike the name immensely.Array
