[Opinions] Greek names

Recently I've started really liking some Greek names... they're so majestic, and the meanings are great! I have no Greek heritage, so these names probably wouldn't go so well on my own kids, but I like them anyway, especiallyYannis (John)
Evangelos
Apostolos
Evander
Lysander ("release of man")Anybody else like Greek names?

I like all of those, but prefer Lysandros over Lysander. I love Greek names and have no Greek heritage as well, but I still may use some or forms of them. I have huge lists including many that aren't in this database.

I'm not Greek either, but I'd love to use Greek names. After all, Katherine, Andrew, Alexander, Nicholas, and Melissa are all Greek. Plenty of Hebrew names are used by non-hebrew people. I love Evander and Lysander (though there's too much "lizard" in Lysander). There's a bunch on my PNL.

I went through a Greek phase some time ago.There are a few I still like - Nephele is #1.Of yours, I like:
Yannis
Evander
Lysander - though I prefer the feminine form Lysandra.

Ooh, Gaia and Selene are nice! I was having a harder time finding girls' names in Greek that held the same charm for me as the male names. Maybe they are a little more common? (Helen, Katerina)
I forgot Alexandros-- also a good one. And Basil, in the right context... like a historical novel... seems a bit prissy in this day and age though.: )

That's funny, I have a harder time with male names. Alexandros is oh so handsome though. Agree with you on Basil. I like Helios too but again may not be quite right in this day and age.

I do. I also like a lot of Greek mythology names, though mostly as GPs. (My favourite mythology names are Echo, Penelope, Hermione, Philomela and Phyllis.)I like Yannis a lot. I am hard-pressed to find a form of John I don't like.On Lysander: Someone I know is an FTM transexual, and when he came out, he changed his name to Lysander because of the meaning. I thought that was really cool.
