What is your opinion of Nina?

Nina Grace was one of my favorite combos for a long time but I talked with some people about names and when I mentioned it, they laughed at me. They said it only reminded them of one of Columbus's ships- the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria. Is that association too strong? I still think its a beautiful name but wouldn't use it if that's the first thing people would think of.

Also, what is your opinion of Natalie? I like the combos Natalie Nicole and Natalie Elise (similar to my mother's middle name Alice). I love Natalie also but don't think I would use both Nina and Natalie because they have the same first letter. Which do you prefer or do you not see it as a problem?

I like Nina and paired with Grace I think it's really cute.
I have a niece 11 days old named Natalie Grace but we all laugh and say she should have been named Natalie Nicole since that's what we slip and call her anyways.

I like Nina a lot. And no, it doesn't only bring to mind Columbus' ships. I've met a few Ninas, and it's a recognizable name that's easy to pronounce and spell without being overly common. I also like Natalie, but I have some bad personal associations with it. :b

I like Natalie (prefer Natalia), but hate Nina. Nina Nicole is too alliterative, but Natalie Elise is nice. DO NOT use Natalie and Nina as a sibset, WAY too cutsey.

I love both the names. They sound fine together, having the same first letter is not a big deal. My sister and I both begin with 'K' (Kristen and Kelsey) and we got along just fine. I like Nina Grace, and I don't think of the columbus ships (I didn't know there was a Nina). I also like both Natalie Nicole and Natalie Elise.

Nina is not one of my favorite names, but Natalie is. And if you love them both use them. I don't see anything wrong with picking two names that just happen to have the same letter.

Nina is too simple.
NATALIE IS AMAZING!!! Don't use Natalie Nicole. The double N is a no-no.

I find Nina to be quite exotic and sexy, I love it.

I'm not so fond of Natalie sounds to perky to me. I much prefer Natasha.

I don't find the Nina association too strong, I just don't like the name.

Natalie is nice, if not a little generic and overused in the 80's.

Nina is a nice name, I think Nina Grace works very well. I don't think the ship association is too strong. It's not like you are asking "What do you think about the name Titanic?"

Natalie is a lovely name, too. Natalie Elise is my favorite combo. The two names work well together.

i think Nina is ok - but i would not give it to my daughter...
Nina Grace sounds cute...

i dont like Natalie (i know a girl named Natalie & she is horrible...)
