[Opinions] Miley
So browsing though People magazine and saw the article about the girl on Hannah Montana. Just wondering what you thought about the name Miley. It's really growing on me.

I like it, but only with the proper spelling of Maile.
Miley is my least favorite name right now. I dislike her real name (Destiny Hope). I keep seeing it in births announcements online and all the spellings just make cringe. Like others have said, it was her nickname of Smiley that got shortened to Miley. I find it utterly cheesey and don't think it will age well at all.
Who? j/k That name is horrid, imo
Her name isn't even Miley. Her name is Destiny Hope (yuk) and her nn was Smiley, which became Miley. I don't like it, but apparently Maile is said the same way, so I would much prefer that. I don't feel Miley at all, it is just too cute IMO with little substance or any real reason for me to like it (eg. famous bearers as Cyrus does not cut it for me or cool meaning)
Frankly, I hate it. It gives me a tic. I think it's insubstantial, shallow, and superficial seeming -- a name constructed purely for trendy sound, like a product brand name (and Miley Cyrus does not exactly help this image).

I love it spelt Maile
It is not even her real name...it came from her nickname "Smiley". It seems childish and I couldn't imagine it aging well at all. It also seems trendy.
The one downside to my name: People want to call me Miley! To be honest I find it degrading. Maybe if it were my given name I wouldn't feel so strongly about it.
Despite there being a girl on this board named Miles, I don't like either name for a girl. maybe for a middle name,
Don't worry
I'm not going to attack you just because you don't like my name. Really, I don't take it personally :-)

Yeah, since I first heard it, it has really grown on me. I really like it now. I would use it as a mn. It seems modern, yet not TOO trendy.
