I love it. I used to think of it as a girl's name because the word "cruz" is feminine in Spanish, but now I feel that it's almost all boy. If the Beckham association is too strong, you could use Cruise. It's not the same, I know, and sounds a bit tryndee, but it's pronounced similarly and the change in spelling would veil the name's Beckham influence.
