[Opinions] Susannah
Lately this name has been growing on me. At first I didn't like it because it reminded me of the song, "Oh, Susannah." But lately I'm loving the sound and look of it. I also like Shoshana, but I would think I would need Jewish ancestry to pull it off (I know I wouldn't HAVE to). So I have a few questions, if you would be so nice to answer them. :)1. What do you think of Susannah?2. What are good middle names for Susannah?3. What are good siblings (boy and girl) for Susannah?

1) Susannah has always been one of my favorite names, it's feminine without being frilly and classic but still unusual. It has a variety of nickname options too, never a fan of Susie or Susan, I've always liked Annie or Anna.2) My favorite combinations are:
Susannah Beatrice
Susannah Ruth
Susannah Belle
Susannah Pearl
Susannah Catherine
Susannah Lily ( I saw you all ready mentioned this...)
Susannah Poppy ( in keeping with the flower theme)
Susannah Fleur ( also flower related)3) Most classic names go well with Susannah. I've always liked the combination of Susannah and Adeline. Other suggestions:
For girls:
Thea
Clara
Madeline
Audrey
Phoebe
Caroline
EleanorBoys:
Henry
Thomas
Isaac
Morgan
George
Jude
LeoThere aren't many names that would clash with Susannah. Two very feminine, longer names ending in "a" might be a bit much, or a very modern, trendy, or masculine ( for a girl) name wouldn't go as well with Susannah but most names as long as they were somewhat classic would sound fine.Hope that was helpful!

I like Susannah. I think it is cute and spunky. I think good siblings for Susannah would be along the lines of what Eliora mentioned. I will try to help you with combos when I get back to where my name list is but, right now I just can't without a list of names in front of me.-Tara-

1. I adore Susanna (my preferred spelling). BTW, it's my understanding that "Oh! Susanna" is also spelled this way after Stephen Foster's sister, Susanna. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.2. Mns: I've given this lots of thought since Susanna is one of my favorites. My faves are: Charlotte, Juliet and Margaret. I've also considered Elizabeth Susanna with the nn Lily since Lily is a traditional nick for Elizabeth and Susanna means 'lily.'3. Just about any classic name would flow nicely with Susannah: William, Oliver, Henry, James, Charlotte, Jane, Abigail, Eve ... My dds are Katherine, Victoria and Anna and I would consider Susanna (as a mn only) for another dd.Re: Shoshannah, I don't think you'd have to be Jewish to pull it off, however, it's a name that I just don't find attractive. I want to like it because I love the way it's written (something about the two sh's puts me off).

My boyfriend loves William, because he loves William James. I think he was a philosopher, scientist... and one of the founders of psychology. So I'm glad William and Susannah go together.Thank you for the opinions!

Susannah might come across as frilly, but I've got a bit of a weak spot for somewhat frilly names.Susannah Adelle is wonderful.I like Elizabeth, Katharine, Josephine, and Rosalind. Also, Nicholas, Tristan, and Gilbert (a weak spot for me). Thank you for your opinions.

I like it. I prefer Shoshana, but Susannah is cute. Classic names go well with Susannah - Lucia, Miriam, Naomi, Katherine, Jonas (all favorites of mine!). The only names that wouldn't sound good with Susannah would be modern ones, like McKayla and Susannah. I'm not good at combos, unfortunately.

What about Susannah and Gwendolen... too much frill? I do like Katherine or Katharine with Susannah. Any nice nicknames for any of those?
