I've been thinking a lot about the name Irene now, and then I realised it's Greek variation Eirene, looks a lot prettier and more exotic. But I'm wondering is it pronounced the same as Irene (ie-REEN)?

I've heard this name mentioned on HBO's Rome before (Eirene), and the characters pronounced this name: ere-REN-nee and sometimes, uh-REN-nee or ear-REN-nee. What's the right way to say it?
