I'm really liking this name... just occurred to me today. I had a grandfather named Meyer, and I would like to honor him. Do you like this name? What are some other ways I could honor him?
Note: I'm actually named after him myself (middle name Meryl), so would it be weird to honor him again?

I love Maya (also love it spelled Maia).
Maya Willow is one of my favorite Maya/Maia combos. Maya Cecile is also nice.
The Maya combos on my list: Maya Catherine, Maya Cecily, Maya Delphine, Maya Hesper, Maya Josephine, Maya Willow. (And the Maia combos on my list: Maia Gwendolen, Maia Lotus, Maia Tehani, Maia Willow, Maia Xanthe.)

Problem with that is, I had a great-grandmother Esther who was NOT a nice person, and my mother really does NOT want her honored... but I agree, it's very pretty.

ahhh Maya! I am so sick of it at the moment, but that's because here in Canada they are EVERYWHERE. Before I came here, I hadn't met a single one and really liked it. It's probably just a regional thing, so might not be an issue for you.
No it wouldn't be weird to honour him again- your name was your parents honouring him, this would be you honouring him. Not weird at all, jsut means he was an important person to you all.
As for the combos:
Maya Lynn- I'm not sur who the arcitect is, but Lynn is very fillerish-dated to me.
Maya Jaime- I never know how to pronounce it. Is it like Jamie? but that just looks wrong to me.
Maya Willow- lovely combo, very sweet
Maya Cecile- Cecile is nms, but it sounds good.
