[Opinions] Salome
I was wondering if anyone has ever known anyone by this name who has pronounced it differently to the usual: sa-LO-mee? Like maybe sa-LO-may? It doesn't mention it here on the database, and yet I'm sure I've heard it said with the 'may' ending before.
Thanks!

I've heard it as SAL-oh-may (in a movie, I believe) or maybe it was SAH-loe-may. Something like that. I like the name and the history behind it is interesting, but all I can think of is salami. :-/
It's my best friend's daughter's name; she just turned 1 in July. They pronounce it sa-LOAM, like shalom with no H.
I prefer SAL-oh-may myself, which I guess is more of a French pronunciation.
sa-LO-mee makes me think too much of salami.

SA-lo-may
I've never heard it pronounced sa-LO-mee... that's not even the "usual" pronunciation.
Only way I've ever heard it used is SAL-oh-may.

I was at school with a Salome - pr. Sa-LO-mee. She is the only one I have ever met. Beautiful name though!
I've never known anyone that pronounces it either way. But I pronounce it Sal-oh-may.

Salome is my daughter's hebrew name - We've heard it either pronounces ending in 'May' (this is the french way, supposively used by Oscar Wilde) or sounding like Shalom (the hebrew word this name is derived from). I personally prefer the later, especially as we use it as a religious name, but as long as it isn't salami (My FIL thought it was funny when he saw it in writing...) I have no grief ;)
I've always heard sa-LO-may (haven't ever heard of sa-LO-mee), but I've never met anyone with that name.
Yes. I know someone with that name. My friends and I pronounce it sometimes SAL-oh-may and sometimes SAUL-oh-may. I'm not really sure which way she pronounces it, though. :-)
The Suh-Lo-May pronunciation is French. There is an accent on the e to give it the 'may' sound. In English it is pronounced without the accent and sounds somewhat like Salami, except with an o sound on the second a.
