Sorry but that sounds more like wishful thinking. Most likely the name is a spanish version of the name Wrangell

My grandmother from my dad's side was a Rangel. I know that their grandparents came from Spain and settle in the Andes mountains in Venezuela ( the part of the mountains that end in Venezuela) It is a fairly common last name in Venezuela, but I was told that is a derivation of the German name Wrangell. I currently live in the USA, and due to the current affairs in Venezuela, I have not been able to do more research. I will post any info I find.
