I love Rory! I have a 22 year old cousin Rory who is handsome and cool. I wish more boys had this name. Rory Hugh looks nice but does sound a bit abrupt. My cousin is Rory Patrick.

I love Rory for a boy! Unfortunatley I married someone whose last name begins with R so I can never use it, there would be too much R! I like the Irish and Scottish spellings too. I think Rory Patrick or Rory Connor sound very nice together.

I'd never given it much thought until I met a guy named Rory, and actually, it does sort of feel that way. I do worry that it can sound childish when I try to picture a middle-aged Dr. Rory McGillicuddy or something, but it's not too bad. And I think it works as a NN for Gregory or Roderick, too, if that's a concern. Hugh is one of my favorite names, and I think Rory Hugh actually is a good combo. What you're calling abrupt I'll dub "clean simplicity" haha.

I think Rory is a great name for a boy, particularly because it's a masculine name to begin with. I agree; it's cool and spunky without being childish. Rory and Hugh are both great names, but together they do sound a bit abrupt. Maybe something longer would be nice. Here are a few suggestions:

I agree that Rory Hugh does sound a bit abrupt. My 1st thought was Rory McHugh, but that sounds more fn/ln than fn/mn. Be a great character, though!
