[Opinions] Naima
I have a co-worker, not sure of her age, named
Naima - nigh (as a horse nigh)- e - ma (long a sound)
At first I wasn't sure if I liked it, but the more I hear it, and say it, the more it grows on me.

I think it's very pretty, though I always think of one of the winners of America's Next Top Model. I'm pretty sure that was her name...
I knew a Naima
prn ny-ee-mah. It's really nms, but I do have a soft spot for the name since she was such a nice person. She had a twin named Akila(h) (don't remember if there was an H or not).

I love the reference--"Naima" by John Coltrane--but I think immediately of Naima of America's Next Top Model. She was...not the brightest (or most interesting) kids on the show. She did win, however: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naima_Mora

ETA: I'm not sure if you're pronouncing it nay-EE-muh or nye-EE-muh, but I've only ever heard it the second way.
