I love Naomi, but I'm bias as it's my name.
I pronounce it nay-OH-mee and that is pretty much the general consensus that I come across. I get a lot of nigh-OH-mee though, and they usually just cannot pronounce it nay-OH-mee (particularly very nasal Autralian English speakers). I don't care though, because different people with different accents will always pronounce it differently.
In England, I was actually asked if it was nay-OH-mee or NAY-oh-mee because people I knew there encounted the stress difference.
I have also met a Naomi who was called nay-OH-mie (mie as in MY).
Popularity wise, I like the fact that I have hardly had to contend with another Naomi in my life. Yet, it's a name people know.
I prefer it over Lauren for meaning and popularity (and sound, but that's a more bias and subjective measure).
It's hard with combos: al I hear is Naomi Amelia :D (Amelia was after a family member).
