a big no-no. Might work on a dog, though!

Well, there's always Nero Wolfe as an alternative namesake, but perhaps "arrogant overweight neurotic but brilliant detective" isn't much better than the emperor. :)http://www.thrillingdetective.com/wolfe.html

Great, if you like naming your kids after insane inbred rulers who used humans tied to stakes as torches for their garden parties. Otherwise, not so wonderful. :P

Not a fan, reminds me of the Roman emperor, plus it rymes with Zero.

It's OK as an individual name, but way, way, way too closely linked to the mad Roman emperor who got his mother murdered, burnt Rome, and wrote bad poetry, among many other things. I could only tolerate it on a pet.

I think it's nice. What about Caligula for a brother? ;PI think it's completely unusable.

Exactly. (though honestly, I rather like lady murasaki's suggestion of a dog)

I like Nero. I'm loving Ancient Roman names at the moment, so this really appeals to me. However, I'm not sure if it would be usable in the United States. If you live here, it might be a problem. It would be a really great mn, though.
