[Opinions] WDYTO...Monet
for a girl?
Replies
I would use it as a mn only
Unless you're a huge fan of Impressionism, I'd say no
I wouldn't use it but I think it's nice
Ditto
Definitely not
The surname of a dead male artist is a lousy name for a girl. What's wrong with Claudia?

I'm sorry to say I find it a bit tacky. :-/ Not sure why. I guess because it's a surname and I don't care for surnames on girls. But also because it seems like a lot of people who use it just think it sounds "pretty" and have no clue who Monet was. :(
I love Monet for a girl its one of my favs. it has such a soft and elegant sound to it.
I really love it as a middle name. It doesn't flow as a first name with a lot of my other favorites, so I'd probably only use it as a mn. But I do love it. :)
I dislike it on both genders, doesn't seem like a real name. If you really want it, it would be much better as a mn.
I really dislike it. How many people who name their kid Monet even have a clue who Monet was? It's trendy and plain stupid imo.
Actually...I like it due to the fact of who Monet was. I'm an artist and there's a long tradition of artists in my family. Also, it's a name to honor someone with since I do have a great aunt Mo

If I met your child and knew the story behind it, it wouldn't bother me at all. It's quite nice, actually. But most of the time when you meet someone or just see their name, there's no background story. :-/
Agree with Isla and Agata.

It is actually very nice. It looks masculine on paper, but I think it is better for a girl... sound wise. I think it would be better as a middle name. Even though it is beautiful
I think it could make a cool middle name, but I dislike it as a first name.
This is actually one of my favorite pet names.

I know a girl named Monet. I was thinking of this just a while ago, I dislike it.
