[Opinions] Nicknames? (edited)
Do you have any nicknames that your family or friends call you? Funny or names that are just short for your own name? I have some funny nicknames. My family calls me Hildie. I have gone by Hildie for years. Some others funny nicknames I am called are:My family calls me:
Hildie

Brewskie
Bruiserbrody
Boosey
BrumhildaMy friends call me:

ETA: I forgot that my God son William calls me Nana. I also get called Tahn for short for Tonya. Alot of little children pronounce my name as Tona without the y. Which I think is cute. For some reason they have trouble with that y.

Since my name is Leah I have had the nn's Leia and LeeLee (although Leia has personal importance) and my last name is a lovely jumble of letters so I have gotten the nn's Salisbury, Schwazel, and Salty.

Jeziana. Where my cousin came up with it is beyond me, but it's been my internet name for a while :)I don't really like it, but I just happened to be called it. I did get called Jay a lot as well.I call my sister Puj, due to her very cute pudgy cheeks and dimples she has in all her baby photos. It's also easier to say than her full name.

Among friends, I'm AR for obvious reasons--it's a weensy bit shorter than Amy Rae, and it's fun to say. When I was little, I'd be Amy Ramy (rhymes) and Ames. My sisters and I had all sorts of aliases among each other, too, so I've also been Trainer, Reemy, Remus, and Palla Palla. ;)Array

My parents always called me Les or Sis.My mom's name is Sally, and all of her family and friends called her Jo most of her life. To this day, she can't explain why.

My sister Louisa could never say my name when she was younger and she always called me H and it kind of stuck. Other family members began to call me that, too. And I get Rae and Rae-Rae sometimes by family members. I absolutely hate Rae-Rae. With my friends and co-workers, I go by Rach. My ex, Darren used to call me Rachey-Baby but my best friend, Claire heard him say that to me one day so she started calling me Rachey-Baby, too :/

My full name is Gwendolyn, so i get called Gwen and Lyn (mostly Lyn)
My dad nicknamed me Tootsie, because apparently he and my mom watched that movie the night before I was born and during the day that I was born, he had the song stuck in his head.
One of my friends calls me Winnie, I think it's supercute :)

My nick names for the longest time have been Josh, Joshica, Jeff, or Jeffica. I also get called by my last name by a lot of people. My name is Jessica and my neice couldn't say it very well. Her saying Jess would come out as Joss so my sister decided it would be funny to call me Josh, and just added the "ica" to make it Joshica. I got Jeff/Jeffica on a field trip to some old victorian printing press book store type thing in Alexandria, Virginia. Apparently a long time ago the S's looked like F's so whenever there was a word with an S in it it was really an F, so my name looked like Jeff.I've had other nick names through out my life, but those are probably too inappropriate to share on here.

Someone called me Meg the other day at work, generally I don't let people call me by any form of my name because I don't like any of them. Meg, Meggie, Maggie, etc... ick. The only people I allow to call me by a nn related to my name are my dad and my aunt, who call me Megster or Megs on occasion.Other nicknames I have are Old Hag, Moose, Plushie, Meggo (okay, I guess that's sort of related to my name too, but it was more supposed to be a play off of Eggo, like the waffle), and Sweetie (not really a nn I guess, more of a term of endearment). Most of those have rather long stories behind them.

Repunzel- my older cousin called me this because I have very long hair

Mum used to call me Kris Kringle, as my name is Christine and I was born two weeks before Christmas.I also get Elachris (combination of Elanor and Christine, Elanor being my sister) and Stevchris (Steven and Christine, Steven is my brother).

I do the same with my kids. Now that there's a dog thrown into the mix, I have four names I start to say when I want someone or yell at someone.
vote up1
It used to be my mom would mix-up my name in with my siblings, but now that we've all moved out, when she does see us she often calls us (or starts to) by our father's name or my nephew's name, who often stays with them. :b When my nephew was little, I'd call him by my dog's name sometimes, but their names were slightly similar (Cori and Curtis). Sort of. LOL.
vote up1
Mom accidently called my brother by the dog's name!
vote up1
Haha thats all too familiar!I answer to Leonie or None (prn. NOE-n) which is my Aunt's name that everyone calls me by accident. And I think everytime I am called, it is more like Eimelise, Mikelise, Antelise or even Allielise! My little brother Anthony is the worst...he will say something to me and say "Heyyyy Dad-Allie-Mum-Mike-Eims-Lisey?" but gets all flustered in between each name!
Sometimes I accidently call Anthony or Eimear Harry, which is the dog's name!

I've done that!I remember spotting Boston going after someone's food, and yelled my niece's name in a very sharp tone.

Today...I was calling my niece, Brianna. I went "Mir-Soph-Emm-Lil-BRIANNA"

ROFL . . .Mum does that: Chris-Stev-El-ROBERT!I also get called Jonquil (Mum's younger sister) and Jessica (the eldest cousin on that side). Mum and names don't mix :-D

My dad does that too! My mom is named Galynn, which rhymes, so I get called Gay-CAITLIN and she gets called Cai-GALYNN !

My family and friends call me:Ton (pronounced Tahn, and short for Tonia)
TonTon (It's the name of a creature in the Star Wars movies so the nn is usually accompanied by weird animal noises)
Tonie
Tonican
Tonia Lynnberger
Twinkles (My sister came up with this at random and it sort of stuck)
TinTon (a combination of mine and my twin sister's name)I also got called Shuggie alot by my older cousins when I was young, but I only get called that now on rare occasions. I have a slew of other nns that come and go, but these are the ones I get called on a regular basis.
vote up1
Im just asking based on your nn's. Is your name Tonia Lynn? I was just curious because my name is Tonya Lynn lol.I forgot to mention that, as well, that I also get called Tahn for short sometimes. I'll have to edit that.
vote up1
Yup, it's Tonia Lynn. With the exception of my mom, I tend to get called Tahn pretty much all the time. Actually, I rarely get called just Tonia. I usually go by Tonia Lynn or a nn LOL. ETA: Younger kids also call me Tona alot. I think it's really cute, too.

My sister has always called me Adrienne, as in 'Yo, Adrienne.' She's several years older than I am, and apparently in the 80s she said that to everyone, but she said I came crying to her one day when I was 5 or 6 after she called a friend of mine 'Adrienne' and said to her 'But that's MY name.' :b Recently, my new nn has become Aunt Leather because that's what my 3-year-old step-great-nephew calls me, lol. Oddly enough, he could say Leather before Heather. Now I've been called Feather, Hevver, Heffer, etc. by small children, but Leather was a first. :)

My family sometimes calls me Whee...other than that, I'm just Ariel. The reason why is because Sally the Squirrel on Animal Crossing (video game for Gamecube + Nintendo DS) always says Whee. Lol!
vote up1
Nah. I've always wanted a silly one, but my name is so simple I don't need a nickname. =P I often get called by my last name by friends and mostly teachers. More often, I'm called Firstnamelastname as one word, Tracy Facey, Tray Fay... I'm usually never just Tracy by my friends.Occasionally, my coach calls me Bulldog. The Bulldog of the team. Once I find out what that means exactly, maybe I'll take it as a compliment...ETA: Also on occasion, my best friend calls me Teresita or Teresa, my old Spanish class names.

GoogleMy friends call me Google because I either know random facts when they need them, or I can produce them quickly. People ask me where quotes are in books when they're writing papers because I gloss mine so well that I can flip through and locate it usually within minutes. Someone said they liked a song in a movie we were watching the other day, but he couldn't figure out what it was despite trying before. The only lyrics we had to go on were "On a Monday, a Monday" -- I found it in three minutes. So yes, that's a rather long-winded explanation of my one NN. :)Otherwise, I'm just Jen. That's all anyone calls me ever. I am trying to get people to call me by my LN because I like it better, but so far, it's not happening. I also sign emails and things with J, but no one calls me it.

Jenathan (mixture of my name and my brother's)Was that on purpose or something your parents "created" when getting mixed up trying to call one of you? :b My siblings and I (Heather, Candi, and Nicky) have been called Keather, Handi, and Kicky--and other variations--many, many times by our mother. ;)

Yes, it's a mix-up. I think that Jon was the one who made it up, actually. The trouble with being called Jen and Jon is that when Mom calls us over the intercom system, they both sound almost the same. For years we couldn't distinguish the two.

My name is Kristina, and the usual nn I go by with my family is Kristy. My father has occasionally called me Kristy the Kid or Krispy.
My grandfather used to call me Kristy Sue Lou Ellen. I have no idea where most of those names came from. One day out of the blue he lengthened it(yeah, it just wasn't long enough) to Kristy Sue Lou Ellen MayBelle.
Strangely, I miss being called that.
