[Opinions] Madeline
I've never really thought about the name, until my mom kept getting it mixed up with my niece's name (Natalie). Now, I'm really liking it. It would be mad-uh-lien, not lyn. Most likely no nickname from me, but my family would probably call her Maddie.
Opinions? I know it was a prettty big name in the late '90s, earlier '00s.

I think it's quite pretty.
I like Madeline, but I'm still firmly of the belief that the world's quota of Madelines was filled in 1987 with the birth of my friend, Maddie. She's the very epitome of what a Maddie should be, and for that reason, I simply can't bring myself to approve the name for anyone else.
It's a perfectly fine name, though, whether nn Maddie or Della, and yours would be far enough away from mine that she wouldn't have to worry about measuring up. ;)

I really like the name Madeline. I think it's a very sweet name, but it's got substance too. I'm not too fond of the nickname Maddie. Personally, if Madeline needs a nickname, I like Mads- that's what we sometimes called my friend Madeline in elementary and middle school. Still do, sometimes.
I love Madeline, said that way only. It's popular, but not hideously trendy, and it's a legit female name. Maddie is a cute occasional nickname, but it's a bit overdone and reeks of Madison. If your mom gets it mixed up with Natalie, it might not be a good idea to use, though.
Edit: forgot a rather important word

The connection will fade.
I'm not sure where it's coming from, but as the girls grow older the confusion will end.
I'm thinking you meant to say it wasn't hideously trendy, and believe me, she would not be called Maddie regularly. :-D

Ack!
Yes! I did mean to say it was not hideously trendy. Thanks, I've edited it.

I think it's pretty. Madda-lynn is the way most everybody in the US pronounces it, I've never heard it said your way unless it was by a French person or something.
I'm not fond of Maddie, it's right up there with Katie, Allie, Ellie, Emmie and Lexie as a cutesy nickname that you hear every day.

Really? It's always mad-ah-line here. It's rare that I hear ait the other way. As I said before, I wouldn't call her Maddie, but I have no control over what my family will call her. My nephew is called Ikey, for pete's sake!
Ikey?! lol (m0
That is pretty funny. Do the other kids change that to icky? lol
The only time I've heard madda-Line is in connection with the Madeleine books, and that's so the rhymes will scan. lol
