Miles and I only married two weeks ago, and we're already out on the road. Everything happened so fast. I was going to learn to be a schoolteacher - that's what mama wanted me to do, anyway. But Miles wanted me to go west with him, and I just couldn't say no.
He says he doesn't know exactly where we're headed yet. He says that when we get there, he'll be able to tell. I miss Mississippi, and mama and papa. I miss David, and the twins Samuel and Susan, and baby Jane. But at the same time, I'm excited to see where the trail leads us.
