[Opinions] It's a favorite.
I don't see it as old-fashiioned, but that doesn't really bother me. (Brian is old-fashioned to me). Miriam is a heavy name, rich with history and meaning. It needs something to balance that, but not detract. I see Miriam with a middle name such as Helen or even Judith. However, your taste is quite different from mine. I would suggest Miriam Lily for you. ( My Miriam would most likely be Miriam Helen, after a very powerful woman in my life.)
