[Opinions] Opinions on Johann?
I'm in love with this name right now. Seriously in love. Is Johann too old fashioned? Or just too... dorky? Or too "Sebastian Bach"? I knew a boy named Johann in high school and it fit him so well that I wonder if Johann would only work on the right person. I mean, what if I named my son Johann and he was totally a Wolfgang? (Okay, just kidding about that last part.)WDYTO Johann?

My cousns name is Johan (prefer this spelling) and ALOT of boys in Sweden are named Johan.
I think your son would grow into Johan/Johann. I would never name my son that because I don't like it but if you like it, why not?

I love the name Johann. It's very common in Europe, and since the US are such a multicultural place I think a Johann would fit in fine.Haha, nice joke btw.

Johann is strong yet sensitive to me, like William. The name doesn't have to fit your child. He will give it a new meaning. People who meet him will associate the name Johann with him (in part at least) for the rest of their lives, just like you and that guy you used to know.

You know, that's a really good point. I realize that I was thinking "would my Johann be like High School Johann?"... but the obvious answer is NO. And why should he be?:)

I really like it. It's a fun, but ultraclassic alternative to John. It doesn't sound too old fashioned or dorky at all to me. Bach is one of the first associations for me, but that's certainly not a bad thing.
