I was unaware that it was very popular. I have only ever known three
Sophia's. One is my 60 something year old Hungarian Godmother, one is a Greek friend in a class, and the third was an African American girl I went to middle school with. So it seems to work well in different cultures and over different ages too. I don't think it will ever sound too dated.
I find it easier to make combos with
Sophia in the middle.
My favorite is
Eva Sophia, but I also really like
Sophia Clarisse.
