I just don't like place names generally - I think they sound best on, well, places. But beyond this, I echo Jeziana on it sounding like an attempt to be unique and exotic. There's also a risk of trivializing the place itself - its history, its people, etc - by thinking it's just a pretty word.

There's also the whole other issue of naming your child after a place that doesn't have very good connotations, like Jersey.
