Not a fan of most place names in general, and this name has that same trendy/trying-too-hard feel of most place names, IMO. :-/ That being said, I'd rather see it on a boy than a girl, but then I have an association with a male Milan being snobby and very strange (only because of the contestant on "Project Runway" with his fake British accent :b).

ETA: Apparently the guy on "Project Runway" spelled his name Malan. So nevermind. LOL.

I really like it for a boy, it's one of my favourite names.

I think it's lovely as a mn. i know a little girl named Alida Milan. It's beautiful!

I like it on a boy. I love Milena on a girl, though, and Milana is pretty too.

I like it, but I'd never use it because it's so popular here (it ranked 5th in the Netherlands last year and 6th in 2205 in Belgium) and because although it sounds nice it lacks a bit of 'power' to it in my opinion.
