[Opinions] Viola or Rosalie?
Replies
Viola is one of my favorite names in the world! I think it's a classic!
Rosalie.
Viola is ok, but it always felt very harsh to me. I like Violet more, it sounds a little less harsh in my ears for some reason. Of course I feel Rosalie can be limp. It depends how you are pronouncing it. Is it roz-AH-lee, or rose-AH-lee to you. I've heard it said both ways. I like roz-AH-lee more personally, because the other way is the one that feels limp to me. I also love Rosaline and Rosalind.
Also Viola and Violet makes me think of the violin, and the viola. Yet it also makes me think of violence and violent. Viola also makes me think of the Ebola virus.
EDIT: I just read a bunch of what of people said. I didn't realize there were so many different ways to pronounce Viola. Thinking about it I really like Viola if pronounced veo-LAH or vio-LAH. It's the whole pronouncing the O extra harash that I don't like about the name. If pronounced either of these ways I like the name Viola just as much as Rosalie prn roz-AH-lee.

I love Rosalie. It's one of my favorite Rose- names, but it's not yet overused or trendy. I prefer Violet to Viola (which I pronounce VY-lah or VY-uh-lah, but I dislike vy-OH-lah and vee-OH-lah), though the former seems to be gaining in popularity. :-/ So I think Rosalie is nicer, but you can't go wrong with either.
I'm going to go with Rosalie...it has a sweetness to it that just grabs me.
"Mongoloid child" -- I'm SO glad this is not a term used anymore. Sad, for sure. :-/
Viola... (sorry, this was intended to be under main post)
Rosalie is just too cutesy for me, but if you like it, that's great. I like Viola a lot though, it was my greatgrandma's name, so if I used it, it would be to honor her. But I like vie-O-la. It strikes me as very classy.

That is the only way I like it pronounced, too!
