I had an aunt named
Velma, so my personal associations with it are positive. I think it's a bit too early for most people to start liking it again, partly because of the
Scooby Doo character and partly because of the character in the musical
Chicago, but I suspect that in another 15 years or so when young parents are looking for alternatives to
Ella,
Stella,
Bella, etc. that all the -elma names will start sounding really good to them again.
