The American way is when it rhymes with Melissa and the Russian way is when it sounds like it could rhyme with Lisa.

I see, so it rythms with the spanish way of saying my name. I say my name mah-RIS-ah the italian way, but in spanish it is mah-REE-sah. My mom had intended for my name to be said mah-REE-sah but for some reason I always thought mah-RIS-ah and never realized until I was older that she had intended it to be said mah-REE-sah, maybe I couldn't pronounce it as well or something.---------------------------------------------------------------------

Just to clarify, so we're on the same page; what would the Italian way of saying Marisa rhyme with?

Melissa or Clarissa, or Larissa if you said it lah-RIS-ah or Lah-RIS-sah.---------------------------------------------------------------------
