[Opinions] Pronunciation of Amelia
How do you personally pronounce Amelia? a-MEE-lee-a or a-MEEL-ya? I guess I use the second pronunciation. Also, how do you like the name itself?

a-MEE-lee-a, to me the other pronunciation seems lazy. I adore this name, I like the nickname Mia for it. This was my grandmothers name, and she went by the nn Molly (although she actually despised the name Amelia, I like it!)

I say a-MEE-lee-uh. I find the a-MEAL-yuh pronounciation very ugly.

Oh, and I LOVE the name!

Actually, none of those. Amelia is Amèlia in Catalan, and it's pronunced uh-MEH-lih-uh, or something similar. I much prefer the Catalan pronunciation, I love it.
I'd pronunce Emilia the way you pronunce Amelia, and that's a rather old-ladyish name here.

I would say I usually pronounce it a-MEE-lee-a, but I sometimes call Amelia a-MEEL-ya in fast speech. I prefer the a-MEE-lee-a pronounciation and I believe that is the usual pronounciation in Australia.I love the name. It's a family name for me. My cousin and I both share the name after the same person. I definately would love to use it one day, although it's become unbelievably popular in the last decade (in Australia at least).

I say a-MEEL-ya. I like it fine, but it's not particularly appealing to me.

I use the second pronounciation "a meel ya". I personally don't like the name at all. There's just something about it that I don't like, although I can't pinpoint what it is; I guess it's just one of those names that isn't my style at all. I do, however, think that Mia is a cute NN.
