I don't care for Alanna (I think I prefer the spelling Alannah), and since it'd be honoring people, I'd only use it as the middle name. Sorry, but I don't care for your middle name choices. I suggest Alanna Mary and Alanna Margo.

I love the sound of Mary and the solid old fashioned-ness. I am not a big fan of the meaning.
You must have a rule in your family that says you're not aloud to use a name after another family member unless it is a middle name. I am not familiar with this.

I just said I'd use it as the middle name because I don't care for it. But, I'm pro-honoring, so even though I don't care for the name, I'd still want to incorporate into the child's name, hence using it as the middle name.
I'm pro-honoring via first name, middle name, using exact spelling, variation of name, different spellings of the name, or same letter initial.
