[Facts] Greek question: Issa
I would like to know the meaning (if there is any) of the name Issa. It is the name of the croatian island Vis in the acient Greek. Sice the Greeks were the first to found a settlement there they also named the island in their language.
I found Issa on this site, being the arabic form of the name Jesus, but I doubt that old Greeks had this in mind, when they named the island. Does Issa mean anything at all in modern or acient Greek language?thank you for your help!

A bit of a long shot: "isos" in Greek means both "straight" (in a linear sense) and "equal". An island, "Nesos", is of feminine gender, so are their names. Hence, "Isa" would mean something alonf the lines of "straight" island. Much unlike the gay Ibiza :P
