I like Ellie a lot. Sweet and old-fashioned, it can stand on it's own and doesn't need to be a nn for anything. (Although I suppose it could be a nn for Elizabeth.)Ellie Jane

I love Ellie, but I think that I'd go with a formal name & use it as a nn. I love Heloise, Elizabeth, Eleanor, Ella, and Isabelle.
Inside of me there is a skinny girl, screaming to get out but I can usually shut her up with cookies!

I like it as a nn for Ella or Eleanor.

I prefer it as a nn, maybe for Eleanor, Ella, Ellen, Elsa or Elspeth. And I do like it, a lot.

It's too nickname-y, I think, to be a formal name. I prefer Ella with Ellie as a nickname.

Ellie seems kind of plain to me but it's nice enough with a full name to back it up. Elizabeth and Eleanor would be good because then, even if she didn't like Ellie, she'd have lots of alternative nns to choose from (Liza, Betty, Norah, Lenore, etc.).Other full names:

Eleanora

I like it. My friend just had a little girl and Eleanor, nn Ellie was almost her name. (She ended up a Julia Frances.)Elizabeth, nn Ellie
Eleanor / Eeanora
Ellen
Elsa
Elspeth
Eloise / Eloisa
Of course, there are many more names with the "-el" element in the middle of the name. I've seen Isabelle, nn Ellie. It's a bit forced, to me, but still an option.
