I was of the same opinion as Collis J Hillman, Collis comes from the latin col, collis meaning small hill.

I agree with Collis J Hillman, I also was of theopinion it came from the latin col,collis meaning small hill

My first name and my mother's first name is Collis. It was also my great grandmother's name. Usually it is a male name. I always thought it was latin for hill - as in colliseum. Good luck in your search.
