Gael as a name is either a short form of Abigail (Gail) or a variation of Gale - click hyperlinks for meanings.
The word "gael" means:
1) A Gaelic-speaking Celt of Scotland, Ireland, or the Isle of Man.
2) A Scottish Highlander.
