[Facts] Astraea pronunciation??
I have fallen in love with the name Astraea and after looking around for the correct pronunciation the only one I have gotten is (As-tray-a).I'm not sure that this is correct though, but it seems logical to me. I was wondering if anyone knows the "correct" pronunciation of the name??Thanks

I love that name too. That's how I say it in my head, As-TRAY-a.

Maybe you pronounce it like Austria the country. Others I could think of are:
AS-trey-uh
ASE-trey-uh
is-DREY-uh

Those aren't correctThere are many ways to pronounce Astraea, but those ways, I'm sorry to say, are definitely not some of the options.

There's an English poem called Astraea Redux, written for political reasons in the seventeenth century. The way its author pronounced Astraea would probably have been: as-tree-a. The way the ancient Romans would have pronounced it would have been more like: as-try-a.Either of those sounds beter to me than as-tray-a, who sounds as if she's perpetually going astray! What if you tweak the spelling and make it Astrea? Like encyclopaedia/encyclopedia!

Okay so I found an old post on here and it looks like the "ae" can have a few different pronunciations that are acceptable.A-stree-a
A-stray-a
A-stry-aSo I guess we would just have to pick the one that we like, and probably the most common one that people would say having seen the name and then go with it. :)Thanks

Thanks so much. That actually makes so much more sense than what I found. I also like it much better than the one I found. :)Thanks.
