I think Peony is interesting, but not extremely pretty. I think there's a Peony in Bilbo's family tree (Lord of the rings).

For a character it's okay, I guess...although I'd expect it more on an animal character (say, from the Redwall series) than a human. I like a lot of flower names, but I can't see Peony in real life because of the fact that it has "pee on" in it.
