[Opinions] Darby
What do you think of the name Darby for a girl? I'm usually not into unisex names, but my fiance loves Darby, and it's actually beginning to grow on me. Also, can you suggest any middle names that would go well with this name. The family names that we have been considering for a middle name are, Lucille, Joan, and Suzanne.

I don't like it, but it's not horrible. It does seem masculine to me, though (but I don't care for it for a boy, either), and reminds me of Barbie. Almost like a name for a little boy Barbie doll, lol. I do know a woman named Darby, though (probably in her early 40s now). She was my dental hygienist for years, bleach blond hair but very smart and very sweet. I always thought the name didn't suit her, though, and she always acted like she disliked her name.

I find it very masculine. However, from the mn you listed I like Darby Suzanne the best as a combo.

Darby reminds me of the racing, but it's better on a girl than a boy imo, and I like it for someone else :-)None of the middle names are attractive to me though ... I think it needs something quite girly, like Darby Julianna._____________________________________________________________________"[David Gest] looks like he's had a lot of plastic surgery done, but not by a plastic surgeon."Elinor

I'm not to keen on it, reminds me of Darby and Joan which is the source of many jokes on British comedy. That is why I'd avoid Darby Joan for a combo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darby_and_JoanIf I were to use it it would be for a boy as I find it very masculine.

I think the name Darby is cute. I like the name Darcy or Darcey
too. Darby is a name that started out as a male name but is more popular as a girl's name. Its from a Irish Gaelic word diarmaid that means freeman but of course could mean freewoman too. In Norse I believe it could come from Dyrbyr meaning from the deer estate.
In any event I like Darby Lucille or Darby Suzanne the best.

Darby is too surname-y to me (perhaps because I know a Darby family), but it's purely masculine to me. I'd find it trendy for a girl. From your middle names, I like Lucille and Joan, and I'd prefer the spelling Susan. If I had to make a combo, it'd be Darby Joan.

On one of the cartoons I used to watch, the doll one of the girls had was named Darby. Thus, I always associate it with a Barbie or someone Barbie-like. Sorry :P

I really don't like it.The sound doesn't appeal to me, and it just doesn't seem as if it will age well. I much prefer Catherine Lucille. :-)Siri

I'm not too fond of it for a child only because we once had a dog named Darby. On the other hand, one day at the park there was a beautiful little girl and I heard her mother call her Darby. As middle names go I adore Suzanne.

I'm not a abig Darby fan, but since it is a unisex name, I do suggest a feminine mn.
My friend's daughter is Darby Christine.
I don't mind Darby Suzanne. I promise to write back with middle name ideas later, but for now I have to go.
I'll write back this evening.-Seda*

Wow, what a list! Thanks for all of the suggestions! :)I really like:
Darby Claire (Claire was one of our faves originally for a fn)
Darby Elizabeth
Darby Eliza
Darby Camille
Darby IrisNow I'll have to run them by Courtney (my fiance) and see what he thinks, although we did agree that if we use the name Darby that I would get to choose the middle name. :)

Darby sounds very queer and I don't like it. I like Darcy on a gurl. "Dance like no one's watching."
