I named a character from my book Tatiana Gowelle. I love the name!
I ADORE the name Tatiana. It sounds feminine and strong to me.
*blush* Oops. Sorry. did'nt mean to offend you or anything. *eyeroll*
It doesn't mean "fairy queen" any more than my name does...
This bit of misinformation is derived from the fact that it's generally assumed to be "the Russian form of Titania" or some such nonsense. Unfortunately, that's not true, nor is the idea that Titania means "fairy queen." People think that because of the persuasive power of cheap name books and William Shakespeare. The name is tied closely enough to his character that some baby name book writers figured that was close enough to a meaning. The same is the reason I have books listing Ariel as "wind spirit" and Miranda as "tempest."
That aside, I think Tatiana is a beautiful name. I really like how it looks and how it sounds. I think that Tatty would be a very nice nickname.
