[Facts] Esca
Does anyone know about the origin of Esca. It is my dad's first name as well as his father's; but we don't know where it came from. We did find a river in Spain by the same name, but my family is not from there. Any thoughts?

It's what I named my son. It's from the Irish word for water. Also the same root word is the origin for whiskey. Never known anyone to have this name!
If your family is not from Spain, then where is your family from? It would be more helpful to tell us where your dad's ancestors *may* have come from, than telling us where they *didn't* come from. :)

Esca comes from the celtic word for river and generally was used for persons who had strong feelings for the nature
=This post is two years late but like my research of family - this stuff takes for ever=
Sort of true - the Gaelic word you are probably thinking of is "Uisce"
it means "Water"
