I think it's the same thing really - it means something to do with a relationship between a person and their God, so being faithful and dutiful are both pretty basic to that.
The tricky bit is the English word , which can have a rather negative meaning - religious in the wrong way, thinking that other people are always wrong and you are always right. But it doesn't have to mean that! My Italian's pretty scanty, but in Latin pius (m) and pia (f) were used for any relationship characterised by love and duty, like the relationship of parents and children. Lovely name - lucky you!
